Prepare to set sail with the Open Seas Game Studio! Formerly known as "Geek Squad", we will spend the week designing, building, testing, and playing our very own 2D video game! If you are looking for adventure, then this be the crew for you! Programmers are not the only skill group we need...we are also looking for people interested in story crafting, sound design, video game art, level editing, debugging (play testing), and more!

Help our community and earn volunteer hours through the Be Kind Community Service Intensive. Each day we will partner with local nonprofit agencies that serve our community. Guest speakers will be invited to teach about their programs, and we will complete projects to help them in their efforts. We will also work to clean up our surrounding neighborhoods and park. In the past we have completed work for Make a Wish Foundation, the Animal Shelter, City Walk, and other organizations. We heard from volunteers who are part of large organizations and people who created their own path to serving others. We learn about the opportunities created when we volunteer. Last year students earned an average of 30 community service hours! Bring your big hearts and generous spirits while we earn those scholarship hours!

Bring your next book adventure or an oldie but goodie! During our Book Club, we will step beyond the usual classroom routine and enter a week filled with reading, teamwork, creativity, challenges, and discovery! This is not just sitting and reading. It is an active, hands-on experience where students will investigate stories, share ideas, meet members of the local literary community, venture out to local bookstores, and create something they are proud to share. Students will work with teammates, make creative choices, practice communication, and see stories from new perspectives. They will leave with a deeper appreciation for the power of books to connect people and communities. Whether you love reading, enjoy performing, like creating with technology, or simply want to try something new, there will be a place for you in this adventure.

This intensive will work with the non-profit organization called Days for Girls.  Their purpose and mission are to provide cloth reusable maxi pads for women in third world countries that do not have access to pads or tampons.  Students will earn 40 community service hours for their help making kits.

Want to try out several different art mediums and have the satisfaction of finishing a project each day? This intensive will provide all the tools and supplies for 5 small scale creations you can take home at the end of the week. Ideas: Watercolor, Trash-to-Treasure, Upcycling trinkets, Tiny embroidery, Mini-books, Intricate paper projects, Dioramas, Terrariums, Altered books, collages, ornaments, jewelry, Upcycling textiles, etc. We'll spend most of our day in the design/play/experiment/create parts of crafting and will take breaks for snacks and soups and stretching.

Do you like the idea of sports without all the hassle of running? Want to enjoy one of the fastest growing sports in the world? Then come join the Disc Golf intensive! We will learn the basics of the sport while playing at Tom Brown Park, home to one of Florida’s nicest courses. Afterward, we will unwind with ice cream at Bruster’s! The cost of the intensive covers snacks, ice cream, discs, and transportation.

What really happens during SAIL’s Intensive Week? Let’s show everyone! 

Students in this intensive will become SAIL’s media crew for the week, going behind the scenes to document the experiences happening throughout our school and community. Working in small production teams, we’ll visit other local SAIL intensives, capture them in action, interview students and sponsors, and tell the stories behind one of SAIL’s most unique traditions.

It’s time to get your feet wet as we take day trips to explore the beautiful natural springs, rivers, lakes, sink holes, and oceans that Tallahassee (and its surrounding areas) have to offer.? Jump into icy cold sinkholes, kayak on the Wacissa River, swim in the deep blue sea and relax lakeside. This intensive will have a big focus on wellness, as we will be getting a lot of exercise every day and we will all make a pledge to drink more water and cut out soda for the week we are together.? In addition to helping yourself become well, we will also have the opportunity to help the earth by picking up litter at all the watering holes we go to. This is a great time to earn some community service hours! Requirements: (1) must know how to swim; (2) water bottle; (3) bagged lunch; (4) bathing suit; (5) adventurous spirit & positive attitude. If you are interested in joining this intensive, you will need to complete a swim test!

Students will explore the ins and outs of Tallahassee! From our great local shops to our universities and beautiful public parks, students will be given the chance to engage with the various things Tallahassee has to offer. Every day, students will visit a few different spots, try local food, meet local business owners, and engage with the culture and arts of Tallahassee. Students will also have art journals where they will reflect and collect items from the intensive.

Who's ready for a trip to see the stunning archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean? Well, if you aren't sure, we're heading to Tampa for a cruise to the Bahamas! Yes, you will be enjoying all of the amenities and endless food that Norwegian Cruises has to offer! This will be a 5-day, 4-night cruise, with one excursion at Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas. While there, you will have lots of adventures to choose from, ranging from a waterpark to swimming with pigs and stingrays! 

Cost: $750.00 (A deposit of $250 will be due September 30th)

Explore Chi-Town on this 6-day adventure! We’ll fly to Chicago, Illinois, then stay the week in  a beautiful home in a vibrant neighborhood. Our troupe will traverse the urban landscape by  elevated train, subway, bus, and foot. In this birthplace of the modern skyscraper, we’ll take an  architecture cruise on the Chicago River and enjoy the stupendous view from the Sears Tower,  3rd tallest building in the Western Hemisphere. A must-see are the lions, gorillas, and polar bears  at the Lincoln Park Zoo. The Windy City has much to offer culturally, including the Art Institute  of Chicago; a highlight will be enjoying sketch comedy at the iconic Second City. We can  choose between fabulous sites such as the Field Museum, the Shedd Aquarium, and the Adler  Planetarium. The city has cool sculptures, including the Cloud Gate in Millenium Park. While in  the City of Broad Shoulders, we will (of course) hunt down a real Chicago deep dish pizza and a  Chicago hot dog. It’ll be fun to observe the magnificent city skyline from the Lake Michigan  shoreline and to simply people-watch throughout this world-class city. Ours will be an active &  physically demanding intensive requiring focus & cooperation- there’s lots to do, so only apply  if you can handle long days with lots of walking!

Get your passport and practice your French, with a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Montreal, Québec! This dynamic city has so much to offer; The Insectarium, the Musée d'art Contemporain, The Montreal Biodome! We may add a side quest to Quebec City this year! We will be walking and shopping in the cobblestones of Old Montreal, ice skating, and snow tubing! This intensive focuses on Art, Music, & Cultural experiences in the city! We are looking for mature young people who will be positive group members, enjoy long days with lots of active/outdoor exposure, can handle the cold, and love new experiences! Leave high school with an amazing trip and a passport under your belt! Participants must be capable of extended physical activity in a cold environment each day and wintry weather gear is mandatory.

Students will travel to Costa Rica and there they will have the opportunity to learn about the traditional dances of Costa Rica. We will have cooking lessons in Monte Verde, kayaking on Lake Arenal, and learning to paint the Ox Cart wheels, which are the symbol of Costa Rica.

Remember when the best part of school was recess? This is that—but for a whole week! Recess Reloaded is old-school elementary PE energy for high schoolers: Manhunt, basketball, hide and seek, and epic scavenger hunts all over SAIL campus. No pressure, no grades, just pure run-around-and-be-a-kid-again fun. We’ll wrap up our days chilling with popsicles and movies to cool off and recharge. If you loved recess and miss being a little bit silly, this intensive is for you!
